To begin I will outline brief of what this tutorial is about. My goal is to demonstrate how to using fusion 360 create a complex looking curved round ring that is actually printable and wearable, the ring I will be creating is one of the simple rings from Overlord the Anime. By the end of this tutorial you will understand how to create complex curved shapes with parametric modeling methods and

The file will be provided with this tutorial for you to follow along.

Starting off with an explaination often times when you are using a reference you won’t have all sides visable and even your views may not be straight on so some guess work and tweaking will be involved but fear not even a design like this gives us enough information to work with. With that lets get started.

Step one

Firstly we need to import the file into fusion as a canvis. I find it best to get the saving out of the way to start with as fusion will by default auto save every few minutes but don’t let that make you forget to save your work and even create multiple version files so you can later go back or change something drastically.

Once opened you can now place your canvas, click select image load the ring file select the right face

Once selected click okay, now that our canvis is placed we can start drawing right? Not quite click the Right face on the box to put our image so we can see it straight on.

Once this is done we can now edit our canvas to scale it correctly. At the moment we have no way of knowing how big our ring will be so don’t worry about having it fit your finger just yet for now we just need to scale it up so when we work we have more room and higher values to use.

Right click the file capture

Click on two points across the top of the ring we are going to set the value of this to 50. This will give us a good amount of working space.
